Chesapeake Figure Skating Club Board Meeting
May 8, 2007 at Ice World
Meeting called to order: 6:39 p.m.
In attendance: Natalie Blagowidow, Sam Ketterman, Linda Gettier, Nick Kohut, Silvia Petrik, Heather Cywinski, Susan Dennison.
Approval of Meeting Minutes: The minutes from April 17th, 2007 were approved.
Carnival Committee Report: Nick presented a one page program for “Spring Showcase”. He will print 200 copies initially because last year we only sold 167 tickets. At this time, the minimum expectancy is 200. Black tarp has to be applied in all visible area for privacy. A Judges Critique might increase attendance. A reminder letter will be sent tomorrow to all CFSC members and which will include an explanation of the Judges critique. After the show, all children need to stay in their outfits and report to Lisa Lupton. The order, in which the children will be skating, will be posted in the locker rooms. Each child will receive a license plate because of high inventory. This decision was moved by Nick and seconded by Linda. We need to buy some soft animals and silk flowers for sale. Raffle tickets are on hold at this time. A letter for all coaches will be e-mailed except that Alex has no e-mail on the file. Each coach will receive one free ticket to attend. Also, each worker will receive one free ticket. There will be no professional photographers.
Susan Gallagher is not available at this time to help. All the decorations are located above the locker rooms. A shift supervisor will be available to help with the show. Lastly, Nick went over was Expense list. The cost of ice $1113.75. We only need 12 bottles of water. Sanction for this show is posted. This year’s trophy is a figure skate figurine. We are charging $1.00 for water, and $2.00 for stuff animals and flowers. Our ticket sales rep. are: Lisa Lepton, Sue Dennison and Suzanna Balasubramanian.
Music for rehearsal will come from Heather. She also has warm up music. Nick will send an e-mail with a tentative list of all participating skaters to Linda by Friday.
Treasurer’s Report: We will have a summary next month.
Secretary’s Report: No report, Brenda not available.
Membership Report: No Changes. A clarification was made regarding the Basic membership cost of $30.00. This does not include the skating magazine; however members can attend all parties (Back to School, Halloween, and End of year party). Also, the date for the end of the year party was change to June 19th, 2007.
Fundraising Committee Report: Next meeting we will have updated report.
Youth Committee Report: Molly was not present.
Adult Skater Committee Report: No report.
Test Committee Report: 3rd Judge was added for testing session scheduled for 8/4/07.
Publicity Committee Report: A winner needs to be picked for the logo contest. People can vote on a logo at our Annual party 6/19/07.
Unfinished Business: Slow progress with continued review of Club By-Laws.
New Business: 4th of July parade is open to all skaters and we are looking for volunteers. We need to organizing educational seminar next fiscal year.
