Chesapeake Figure Skating Club Board Meeting

            February 21, 2006 at Ice World

 

Meeting called to order at 6:35 pm.

 

In Attendance: George Kropp, Donna Kropp, Richard Dennison, Susan Dennison, Brenda Amrhein, Linda Gettier, April Dickerson, Jerry Rochester and Natalie Blagowidow.

 

Approval of Meeting Minutes:  The minutes for November 8, 2005 and January 10, 2006 were read and approved.

 

Treasurer’s Report:  The Treasurer’s report was deferred.

 

Secretary’s Report:    Susan reported that we have eight new members.  She reported that there are 86 members total.  There is one associate member.  Linda reported that we added one new member on Monday, bringing the total to 87.  Susan said that two February birthday cards were not sent, but she will hand the cards to the skaters.

 

Fundraising Committee Report:   Susan provided a donation from her sister of $30.00 in place of a candy order.  April reported that Easter candy orders are due March 10, 2006.  The final order is due to Log Cabin on March 16, 2006.  Candy will be picked up at Log Cabin on March 30, 2006.  Candy will be delivered to sellers on April 4, 2006.  The top seller will get four free tickets to the Spring Show.  Second and third place sellers will get two free tickets to the Spring Show.

 

Carnival Committee Report:  April reported that we are well prepared for the Spring Show on April 29, 2006.  The decorations will include a column entrance, two large signs, and six gold starts.  Signage is printed.  Warm up, intermission and finale music has been cut.  Program covers are printed.  Tickets are printed.  April provided a budget for the Spring Show.  Ice time for the June 10, 2006 “Bring a Friend” party has been booked.  April suggested a “Celebrating America” show in September.  George expressed concerns about seats being reserved at shows.  Susan reported that the sanction for the Spring Show is ready to go and can be sent one month in advance.  April reported that there are currently 16 acts for the Spring Show which include 22 skaters and 25 minutes of ice time.

 

Youth Committee Report:   Molly was not present.  No report.

 

Adult Skaters Committee Report:  Linda provided the report.  She reported that Heather Cywinski passed her adult silver MIF test.  Lee Jones and his partner placed first in the Adult Sectional in North Carolina.  Heather Piepenburg placed third in Masters Championship Gold and landed a double axel.  Heather Piepenburg will be going to Adult Nationals in Texas.  Blaise Sedney passed his Adult Pre-Bronze Freeskate test.

 

Test Committee Report:  Linda reported that there were 60 tests at the February 20, 2006 session.  Eighty-six percent passed.  There were seven judges at the February 20, 2006 test session.  Linda reported that the results from the February 20, 2006 session have been registered with USFSA.  The next test session will be on June 10, 2006.

 

Publicity Committee Report:  Jerry reported that Kid’s News will e-mail him prices for advertising.  Linda said that the rink is already committed to an ad every month.  The ad can be changed month to month.  Linda said that text for the April issue must be submitted by March 8, 2006.  Jerry also said Harford Cable Network and fliers will be used.

 

Unfinished Business:  None.

 

New Business:  April reminded the Board that we had talked about cleaning up the club logo and she showed us examples of ideas.  George suggested that the Club congratulate Pilar Bosley and John Corona on finishing sixth at Nationals.  Linda suggested that the Club purchase a banner congratulating Pilar and John.  The Board approved the purchase of the banner.  At the Board meeting in March, the Board will need to talk about nominations for next year and set a date for the General Meeting.
