Chesapeake Figure Skating Club Board Meeting
December 12, 2006 at Ice World
Meeting called to order: 6:28 p.m. Rachel Cox addressed the Board before the start of business.
In attendance: Richard Dennison, Sue Dennison, Suzana Balasubramanian, Sam Ketterman, Lee Jones, Brenda Amrhein, Linda Gettier, Heather Cywinski, Natalie Blagowidow, and Silvia Petrik.
Approval of Meeting Minutes: The minutes from September 19, 2006 were approved with one typographical correction. The minutes from November 14, 2006 were approved.
Treasurer’s Report: Current balance is $5,129.18. Linda reported that this is close to the December 2005 balance, but lower than the December 2004 balance. The Board approved reimbursement to Linda for flowers sent to Helen Nowack.
Secretary’s Report: No report.
Membership Report: Sue reported that there is no change in total membership. There are 81 members and four associate members.
Fundraising Committee Report: The date for the Dinner Dance and Silent Auction is February 2, 2007. Suzana provided a copy of the letter to be sent to potential donors for the Auction and will print the letter. Suzana reported that she has two items for the Auction. Suzana showed the Board a draft of the ticket. Tickets for the Dance and Auction are $50.00. Suzana presented a proposed agenda for the evening. Nick Kohut, Richard Dennison and Roy Wisniewski will run the Auction. Richard suggested that the largest donor this year be given complimentary tickets to next year’s dance. Sam will place information about the Dance and Auction on the bulletin board.
Carnival Committee Report: The Club still needs a theme for the Spring Show.
Youth Committee Report: No report.
Adult Skaters Committee Report: Heather placed sixth at the Halloween Classic. Mika Smith placed sixth and Debbie Shapiro placed seventh in the Bronze event. Linda said that the University of Delaware Figure Skating Club wants to hold an adult competition on March 17, 2007. Adult Nationals will be held in April 2007.
Test Committee Report: Linda reported that Baltimore Figure Skating Club would like to do a joint test session on February 24, 2007. Baltimore FSC will get judges for the session and prepare the dance schedule. Linda will schedule the moves and freestyle tests. Members of Baltimore FSC and Columbia FSC would not have to pay guest fees. The February 24, 2007 session will begin at 12:30 p.m. Linda will research prices for a copier for use during test sessions.
Publicity Committee Report: Suzana showed the Board a brochure created by the Skating Club of Wilmington. Rich suggested that the Board ask Club members to submit ideas for a new logo design and offer a prize. It was suggested that the Board have a box near the pro room for suggestions. Sue also said she would ask her daughter-in-law to show the Board her logo designs again.
Unfinished Business: Photos for the Skaters’ Wall will be taken tomorrow. The Wall will not include photos of associate members.
New Business: Natalie received a request from Baltimore FSC to hold the Chesapeake Open at Ice World. The Board would agree to run practice ice during the Chesapeake Open if the Club would be listed as co-hosts of the competition and be able to shadow Baltimore FSC. The Board began reviewing and revising the Club’s By-Laws. The Board reviewed Articles I, II, III, IV,V(1), VII and VII (3).
